Academic coaching is a service that helps students manage their learning experiences so that they can be academically successful. Coaching focuses on the student's academic course load, but a coach can also help a student manage other aspects of their life that may be interfering with academic performance. Coaching provides the student with strategies and support tools for success, which helps them continue to develop skills that will serve them in their immediate work, graduate school, and the workplace.
Faust Academics provides academic coaching services to help students reach their potential. Amy Faust, founder of Faust Academics, first began working with students with unique learning needs in 1998. She has a BA in Social Work from West Chester University, a Special Education teaching certification from Penn State, and an MA in Educational Leadership from New York City’s Bank Street College. After over a decade and a half of teaching in both public and private schools in PA and NY, Amy spent several years in leadership at an independent special education school in New York City. There, she made a name for herself by building a program to develop the executive functions of early adolescents. In NYC, Amy had a thriving coaching practice that focused primarily on working with students who were experiencing executive function roadblocks in highly competitive academic programs. She has been working as an Academic Coach with college students since 2014. She lives in Lancaster City, Pennsylvania with her husband and son.
